The Mac Family Temple is a landmark site for Ha Tien, embodying the history of the city's establishment. The complex was founded by Mac Thien Tich in honor of his father, Mac Cuu, who turned this region into a thriving trading hub in the 17th century. The architectural ensemble, combining traditional altars and an extensive tomb area, is an important part of the "Ten Scenic Sights of Ha Tien".

What to know
The complex is divided into two main parts: the temple area and the mausoleum area. The temple (Trung Nghia Tu) is built in a strict Vietnamese style with three altars honoring the founder Mac Cuu, officials, and the family's wives. In the mausoleum area, located on the slopes of Binh Son Mountain, there are over 60 ancient tombs. The main mausoleum, built according to feng shui principles, is carved directly into the mountain slope and offers a view of the sea. Of special interest are the lotus ponds in front of the temple, created to provide the city with fresh water back in the 18th century.
The dry season with temperatures of 22–28°C is ideal for exploring the complex. During this time, it is comfortable to climb the stone stairs to the mausoleums hidden within the forest area.
