What you need to know
Da Dung Mountain (My Duc commune, Ha Tien) is a complex system of karst formations. A stone staircase route over 3,200 meters long is open to visitors, passing through narrow gorges and rock outcrops.
Main attractions:
- Tham Doi (Bat Cave): famous for its huge wine-jug-shaped stalactite.
- Tham Bong Lai (Elysium Cave): a unique microclimate that creates clouds inside the cave.
- Tham Lau Chuong (Bell Tower Cave): a natural musical instrument that makes sounds when stalagmites are touched.
- Tham Kho Qua: preserves "bitter melon"-shaped stalactites.
The mountain has held strategic importance since the 18th century, serving as a defensive outpost and secret base during military conflicts.
The dry season is ideal for exploring caves and trekking, as the route requires spending a long time outdoors.
