The Reunification Palace is where the history of modern Vietnam was made. What you need to know
Designed by Vietnamese architect Ngô Viết Thụ, the palace was built in the 1960s on the site of a destroyed older building. Its T-shaped structure covers 12 hectares, including lush gardens and fountains.
The main historical moment occurred on April 30, 1975, when North Vietnamese Army tanks broke through the palace gates, bringing the war to an end. Today, visitors can explore the upper floors with their ceremonial halls and presidential apartments, as well as descend into the basement bunker, which preserves authentic military equipment, maps, and communication nodes. Two historical tanks that participated in the assault are displayed in front of the entrance.
