The Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden is a historic site established in 1864 by the French colonial authorities. As one of the eight oldest zoos in the world, it offers visitors a unique combination of a rich collection of exotic animals and an expansive botanical garden featuring centuries-old trees. It is the ideal place for strolls and discovering the tropical flora and fauna of Southeast Asia.

What you need to know
The zoo grounds cover 20 hectares, housing over 2,000 individual animals across 120 different species: from majestic white tigers and lions to elephants, giraffes, and rare primates. The botanical section is equally impressive, featuring over 320 plant species, including orchid collections, cacti, and a unique bonsai collection.
In addition to flora and fauna, the grounds feature cultural landmarks: the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, the Hung King Temple, and the Butterfly Park. The zoo actively participates in international conservation programs as a member of WAZA and SEAZA.
