What you need to know
The 5-hectare complex is a prominent representative of the Theravada style. The main building impresses with 100 intricately carved columns and a roof adorned with statues of mythical creatures. Inside the temple, you can see murals depicting the path of Buddha and scenes from the Ramayana. Of special value are the ancient 1887 bronze bell and a collection of palm-leaf manuscripts. The temple serves as an important community center where locals preserve Khmer traditions, language, and crafts.
The dry season is ideal for walking around the complex grounds. Visiting in the early morning hours allows you to catch the life of the monks in a peaceful setting.
