Nguyen Quoc Trieu, head of the healthcare protection committee for officials, stated that Tran Dai Quang passed away on September 21 at 10:05 AM Vietnam time. This occurred at the central hospital in the country's capital, Hanoi.

Quang died as a result of contracting a rare virus, which he caught last year. During the course of his treatment, he made 6 trips to Japan for specialized medical care. Unfortunately, it was not possible to cure the illness. Nguyen Quoc Trieu reported that there were no chances of curing the disease, only of slowing down its progression.

On September 20, President Quang was brought to the hospital in extremely poor condition. Doctors were unable to resuscitate the patient, after which he fell into a coma.

Tran Dai Quang became president in 2016. Prior to that, he dealt with anti-corruption issues as the head of the respective committee, and also served as the Minister of Public Security. Naturally, the President of Vietnam was a representative of the Communist Party.

Quang's birthplace is considered to be the commune of Quang Thien, located in Ninh Binh province. Tran Dai successfully graduated from the police university and a foreign languages school.
