Truc Lam Ban Gioc Pagoda is a unique spiritual structure located on Phia Nham Mountain in Dam Thuy Commune. It is the first Buddhist temple built in Vietnam's northern border region, serving not only as a place for worship but also as an outstanding vantage point offering views of the famous waterfall, rice paddies, and mountain ranges.

What you need to know
The temple was built in 2013–2014 on an area of 3 hectares in traditional Vietnamese style. The complex includes three ceremonial gates, the main worship hall housing a statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, the Ancestor Hall, the Mother Goddess sanctuary, Saint Tran's temple, and a majestic statue of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara (Guanyin).
The temple is located just 500 meters from the Ban Gioc Waterfall. The path to the summit features numerous steps, but the rewarding view of one of the country's largest waterfalls makes the effort worthwhile. Visiting the temple requires a dress code: shoulders and knees must be covered, and shoes must be removed before entering the shrines.
The dry season is the best time to visit, as this period offers the clearest and most impressive views of the Ban Gioc Waterfall and surrounding mountains.
