History
Founded in 1980, the Tien Giang Museum is a vital cultural site in the region, ranking second in Vietnam's museum classification system. Located in the historical center of My Tho, the museum offers a fascinating dive into history — from the ancient Oc Eo culture to the liberation struggles of the 20th century.

What you need to know
The museum occupies two buildings designed in an exquisite French colonial architectural style on the banks of the Bao Dinh River. It houses over 36,000 exhibits.
The most interesting collections include:
- Oc Eo Artifacts: gold items and ceramics from the 4th to 8th centuries.
- Numismatics: a vast collection of coins, including unique zinc coins from the 18th and 19th centuries.
- Tay Son Weapons: items found on the battlefield of the legendary Rach Gam — Suoi Muot battle.
Exhibitions are structured chronologically: from the province's pre-party period to the dramatic events of resistance against French colonialism and the American War.
The dry season is the most favorable time to explore the museum's exhibits, providing comfortable temperatures (25–33 °C) for walking around My Tho.
