The pagoda is dedicated to the bodhisattva Guanyin, whose name is revered in the cultures of Vietnam, China, Korea, and Japan. According to Buddhist tradition, this deity helps prevent disasters and protects women within the family. Vietnamese people also believe that prayers here help bless infertile couples.
