History and Architecture
The tower was erected by the French administration (originally named Château d'eau) as part of the infrastructure to supply the needs of colonial troops. The structure is a 20-meter-tall cylindrical building mounted on 8 reinforced concrete supports. Its unique aesthetics are complemented by an octagonal building at the base.
Historical Significance
Nha Tron is a site of monumental change. On August 25, 1945, a massive demonstration (over 10,000 people) took place here, marking the victory of the August Revolution and the establishment of the people's government in the city. In 1987, the tower was officially recognized as a protected revolutionary monument of national importance.
The dry season with clear weather is the best time for walking through the historic center of Ba Ria and exploring colonial architecture without the risk of tropical rain.
