Minh Thanh Temple is an architectural gem of Pleiku, founded in 1964 by monk Thich Giac Dao. What to know
The temple architecture impresses with its craftsmanship: here you will see 124 precious wooden pillars, a Fujian cypress roof, and African mahogany doors decorated with carvings of the Four Heavenly Kings.
Key highlights of the complex:
- Xa Loi Pagoda — a 72-meter-tall nine-tier tower constructed using an innovative "top-down" method for its time.
- Main Pavilion — built in the shape of a mandala, housing four statues of the Bodhisattva of Compassion inside.
- Sacred Statues — the grounds feature over 3,000 statues, including 18 arhats carved from jackfruit wood.
- Lien Tri Lake — located in front of the pavilion, featuring a 40-ton statue of Amitabha.
- Bronze Incense Burner — the largest in Vietnam, weighing 4 tons.
It is recommended to visit early in the morning or in the afternoon. The main gates only open on full moon days (January, April, July, October of the lunar calendar).
