Lake Lak is a unique natural site located at an altitude of over 500 meters above sea level. As the second largest natural lake in Vietnam, it is home to the indigenous M'Nông ethnic group and attracts travelers with its scenic views, traditional villages, and the historical mansion of the last emperor, Bảo Đại.

What you need to know
Lake Lak (Lắk District, Đắk Lắk Province) covers an area of about 6.2 km². It is fed by the Krông Ana River and is surrounded on all sides by mountains and forests. According to legends, the lake was created by the hero Lắk Liêng after a clash between the gods of fire and water.
The cultural significance of the place is emphasized by M'Nông settlements such as Buôn Jun and M'Lieng villages, where traditional wooden houses with thatched roofs can still be seen. The main man-made attraction is Emperor Bảo Đại's mansion, located on a hill with a panoramic view of the lake. Since 1993, the lake has held the status of a national natural and cultural monument.
During this period, the water level in the lake is at its highest, nature is most picturesque, and the weather is favorable for walks and boat tours.
