Ban Don is an "island village" located along the Serepok River in Dak Lak Province. It is a unique place that preserves the traditions of the M'nong people, stilt house architecture, and memories of the times when the settlement was the main hub for elephant training in Southeast Asia.

What you need to know
Ban Don is a cluster of M'nong and Lao ethnic communities. Its history is inextricably linked to the legendary hunter Y Thu Knu. Today, the village combines agricultural community life with a thriving tourism sector.
Your visit should start with exploring traditional stilt houses ("nha san"), walking across the suspension bridge over the Serepok River, and visiting the tomb of the settlement's founder.
Special attention is given to ethical interaction with elephants: following the cessation of tourist elephant rides in 2023, the site now focuses on observing animals in their natural environment, participating in preparing their food, and watching mahouts at work.
