On November 8, an Il-76 aircraft of the Russian Emergencies Ministry departed from Russia carrying 40 tons of humanitarian cargo for the population of Vietnam affected by Typhoon Damrey.

The cargo includes sugar, canned food, baby food, and tents, which will serve as temporary shelter for those who had to leave their homes as a result of flooding.

Typhoon Damrey has been the most destructive natural disaster in the last 20 years. During this natural disaster, 60 people died, dozens of people went missing, 80,000 buildings were damaged, many areas were left without electricity, schools and hospitals are not working, and about 40,000 residents have left their homes.

It was Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin who instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to provide assistance to the residents of the friendly republic. The cost of this operation amounted to 5 million US dollars.

As the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov said — "Our initiative will be heard, and the countries that will take part in the APEC summit in Vietnam, in the city of Da Nang, will show solidarity with the Vietnamese people in the form and scope that they deem possible for themselves."
