French photographer Nicolas Cornet has released a book featuring professional photographs of over 30 Vietnamese pagodas.

Recently made available in the country's economic hub, Ho Chi Minh City, the book focuses on temples in southern and central Vietnam that are off the beaten tourist path. It is published in two editions — French and English.

Spanning 250 pages across five chapters, the author shares his expansive vision of traditional temple architecture. Interestingly, the author also touches upon the daily lives of locals living near the pagodas, complementing his narrative with striking photographs.

Nicolas Cornet is known for his work in collaboration with such French publications as L’Espresso, Mare, Le Monde, D-La Repubblica, and Siete Leguas. Over the past 30 years, the photographer has extensively traveled around Vietnam, studying its history, culture, and, of course, traditional architecture.

The book's release is accompanied by an author's exhibition featuring 50 photographs of Vietnamese pagodas and temples. The event runs at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts until June 10, 2018.

Nicolas Cornet also reports that he is currently working on a similar photobook, this time dedicated to Vietnamese cuisine.
