What it is and why

Vietnam is deservedly considered one of the best places in Asia for windsurfing. The main season falls in winter months, when strong and predictable winds blow, creating conditions for comfortable riding both for freeride lovers and for those who prefer wave riding.

Infrastructure is excellently developed: in Mui Ne and Phan Rang there are many professional stations with modern equipment, training with instructors (IKO/VDWS), and rescue support. Bays are protected from large ocean storms, making learning safe, and the coastline offers endless kilometers of space for riding.

Tips

Beginners better go on the water in the first half of the day: wind is less gusty, and sea is calmer.
Always use sunscreen with SPF 50+, as on water the sun burns much stronger.
Check the forecast via Windguru or Windfinder before going to the spot — conditions can change every couple of hours.
If you are a beginner, take lessons at stations with official certification where there is a support boat.

Caution

Beware of 'fishing nets' that can be poorly visible in water, especially at the beginning of the season.
In peak wind season (December-January) strong chop is possible, be ready for physical exertion.
Do not go far into the open sea without a life jacket and communication if you are not confident in your strength.
