Tips

In Hanoi, definitely try fresh draft Bia Hoi beer in the Old Quarter — it is cheap and maximally atmospheric.
In Ho Chi Minh City, look for rooftop bars for the best views of the night metropolis.
Use official taxis or apps (Grab/Gojek) for returning to the hotel at night — it is safe and inexpensive.
Be vigilant in places with large crowds, especially on busy pedestrian streets.
