The temple was erected in 1886–1887 by priest Jean-Marie Fougère, designed by architect J. Bourard. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that all the main components — the steel frame, bronze bells, and stained-glass windows — were delivered from France, while the craftsmanship belongs to Vietnamese builders.

The building is faced with elegant light pink bricks. Instead of the slate tiles traditional for Gothic architecture, it uses scaled Vietnamese tiles perfectly adapted to the tropical climate. Of immense value are the Corinthian columns, crystal chandeliers, and colored stained-glass windows illustrating biblical scenes. The well-kept 5-hectare area is surrounded by century-old sao trees.
