What you need to know
History and Architecture
The lighthouse was built by the French in 1862. The structure acquired its modern appearance in 1911 (with subsequent reconstruction in 1913). It is an 18-meter-tall white cylindrical tower. Nearby stands a two-story colonial-era building connected to the lighthouse by a tunnel.
What to See
- Observation deck: offers views of the city, port, sea, mountains, and Vung Tau beaches. The ideal time to visit is sunset.
- Historical artifacts: the site features four 19th-century French cannons used for defense and historical water tanks.
Please note: access inside the lighthouse itself is closed to visitors.
You can visit the lighthouse at any time. Sunset hours provide the best atmosphere and lighting for photography. During the rainy season (monsoons), be careful: the asphalt road can be slippery.
