Diệu Quang Pagoda is a unique spiritual sanctuary hidden away from mass tourism. Originally established as a shrine, this site evolved into a Buddhist temple that preserves ancient artifacts, such as statuettes of the god of war Quan Thánh and one of the largest drums in Southern Vietnam. The crown jewel of the temple is the mighty Trôm tree (Sterculia foetida), recognized as the first heritage tree in Long An province.

Local residents know this temple as "Chùa Cây Trôm" (The Trôm Tree Temple). Its main pride and sacred symbol is the tree, which experts estimate to be between 350 and 500 years old. Its majestic dimensions—over 30 meters in height and a canopy diameter of 32.5 meters—make it a true witness to history that existed even before the large-scale Vietnamese settlement of these lands. Despite severe challenges, including a lightning strike in 2013, the tree continues to grow, remaining a symbol of resilience for the community. Visiting this place offers an opportunity to experience the untouched culture and history of the region.
The dry season is ideal for walking around the temple grounds. The best time for photography is the morning hours, when the soft light highlights the beauty of the ancient tree.
