The Vietnam Fine Arts Museum is a treasury of national heritage, housing over 20,000 exhibits. Housed in an elegant 1937 building, the museum offers an immersion into the country's history through art: from ancient Dong Son culture reliefs and Buddhist sculptures to exquisite lacquer paintings and works from the Đổi Mới era.

What you need to know
The museum occupies the building of a former Catholic girls' school, built in French colonial style. The architecture with ochre-yellow facades and cast-iron staircases creates a special atmosphere for exploring the collection:
- First floor: Dong Son culture artifacts, Cham stone reliefs, and a unique 17th-century wooden statue of Guan Yin (Bodhisattva of Compassion).
- Second floor: Traditional lacquer art (up to 30 layers of resin) and refined silk paintings.
- Third floor: Works from the Indochina College of Fine Arts, military art, and contemporary creations from the Đổi Mới period.
The layout of the halls on the upper floors is quite complex, so it is recommended to grab a map at the entrance.
The museum is open daily except Mondays. For a quiet visit, it is best to arrive on weekdays before 9:30 AM, avoiding tour groups that usually visit between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
