The Thu Khoa Huan Monument is a tribute to Nguyen Huu Huan, a Confucian scholar and leader of 19th-century anti-French uprisings. Located in the city of My Tho, it is a national historical and cultural site and an important place for studying the Vietnamese people's struggle for independence.

The Hero's History
Nguyen Huu Huan (1830–1875) was a brilliant scholar who earned the title "Thủ khoa" (top graduate). When the invasion of Southern Vietnam began in 1859, he left his teaching career and led uprisings against the colonizers three times. Despite captivity, torture, and bribery attempts, he did not waver from his convictions and died a hero, facing execution in 1875.
The monument itself, erected in 1985, is made of granite. The figure of the hero is about 7 meters tall, and the pedestal is 4 meters tall. The location for the monument was chosen deliberately: it is at the intersection of the My Tho and Bao Dinh rivers, where the French brought the hero ashore before his execution. Lac Hong Park is located right next to the monument, making it a great spot for a stroll along the river.
The 14th–15th days of the 4th lunar month (usually May) are the best time to visit if you want to witness the solemn ceremonies in honor of the hero.
