Thac Ba Temple is a significant pilgrimage site, reached by climbing 365 stone steps. The temple was built in memory of Princess Minh Dat, revered as the Holy Mother, who taught local residents agriculture and crafts. This place combines rich history, royal regalia, and the unique atmosphere of Vietnamese traditions.

What you need to know
The history of the temple dates back to the era of the Hung kings. In 1963, due to the construction of the hydroelectric power plant, the site was moved 5 km higher up to Mount Hoang Thi. The current appearance of the architectural complex was formed between 1998 and 2001.
The temple covers an area of 1,800 m² and faces northeast towards the Chay River. The building is decorated with traditional scaled tiles and symbolic figures of two dragons. Inside, valuable historical artifacts are preserved: six royal decrees (sắc phong) from various dynasties (from Le to Nguyen) and red-gilded wooden statues of deities. In 2021, the temple received the status of a national historic monument.
The best time to visit is during the spring festival period (the 9th day of the first lunar month), when palanquin processions, boat races, and folk games take place.
