What you need to know
The Sa Dec region is famous for its long-standing floriculture traditions. The main feature of the local landscape is growing flowers on platforms elevated above the ground, which protects the plants from regular flooding in the Mekong Delta. This creates a striking visual display, especially during preparations for Tet (the Lunar New Year).
Visiting the village provides an opportunity to see how local farmers maintain a unique way of life, tending to orchids, roses, chrysanthemums, and rare bonsai trees that are subsequently shipped to markets across Vietnam and exported.
Dry season with comfortable temperatures. The peak blooming period occurs in the month leading up to Tet (January–February).
