History and Architecture
According to local legends, Linh Son Temple was founded in the 13th century by Tran Quoc Tang and Empress Bao Thu Xuan Thanh. It is one of the oldest and largest temples in the Northeast region of Quang Ninh province. In 2012, during agricultural work, the remains of the ancient foundation were discovered, allowing a complete restoration project to begin in 2015, which was completed in 2017.
Main Shrine
The complex houses a statue of Gautama Buddha (Thich Ca Mau Ni). It was entirely cast in bronze in September 2017, stands 2.65 meters tall, and weighs 3.2 tons. This is the central object of worship within the complex.
Significance
The temple plays a key role in the spiritual life of Buddhists and is an important site for the development of religious tourism in Mong Cai city, combining Vietnamese history and the traditions of Buddhist heritage.
