Kẻ Gỗ is a large-scale nature reserve covering 24,801 hectares in central Vietnam. It is of immense value for lowland forest conservation and is home to hundreds of rare bird and plant species. Visiting the reserve offers a chance to see one of the last significant tracts of natural forest in the region.

What you need to know
The reserve was officially established on May 3, 1997. Its geography features low hills ranging from 50 to 497 meters in height. Kẻ Gỗ is of international significance as an Important Bird Area: it is home to endangered species such as the Vietnamese pheasant (Lophura hatinhensis) and the imperial pheasant (Lophura imperialis). In total, 562 plant species and 270 bird species have been recorded within the territory.
Although much of the forest was subject to selective logging in the past, today it is a protected area where a team of 70 staff members, including rangers, work to preserve biodiversity and combat poaching.
This period features cooler and drier weather, making walks through the reserve much more comfortable compared to the wet season (April–October).
