Ham Rong Peak is one of the most famous extinct volcanoes in Vietnam's Central Highlands. Located just 11 km from the center of Pleiku, this volcano serves as the official symbol of the city and an important natural landmark, offering breathtaking panoramic views of coffee and tea plantations and the surrounding landscapes.

What you need to know
The volcano formed 4 to 0.3 million years ago and reaches an altitude of 1,028 meters. Unlike the surrounding basalt mountains, Ham Rong is composed of limestone rock formations. Its unique funnel-shaped crater is its main visual feature. The slopes are covered with evergreen pine forests. A telecommunications station is located at the summit, restricting access to the highest point by military authorities; however, scenic trails and viewpoints on the slopes remain open to tourists, offering views of the entire city of Pleiku.
Dry season with clear skies, no rain, and cool weather, ideal for climbing. Mornings (5:00 AM – 7:00 AM) are recommended for catching the sunrise.
