What you need to know
Đại Điền Communal House is located in Khu Phố village, Thạnh Phú district, Bến Tre province. This structure is closely connected to a national monument complex — the ancient house and tomb of Huỳnh Phủ.
Architectural features: The building is a benchmark of the traditional Southern Vietnamese style of "three rooms and two lean-tos". The structure rests on 48 massive pillars made of precious woods (lim and cẩm lai). The foundation is made of three tiers of green stone and Chinese brick, and the total perimeter of the roof is about 100 meters.
Why visit: In addition to the historical value of the house itself, the region is actively developing eco- and agritourism. A tuk-tuk ride along the picturesque trails of the Mekong Delta will leave unforgettable impressions. Be sure to visit the neighboring Huỳnh Phủ Ancient House (1890–1904) and try the famous coconut candies from Dương Lược commune.
