Best Beaches and Attractions on the Island

Vàn Chảy Beach: One of the most beautiful and longest beaches on the island. It is famous for its fine white sand and great waves, making it a popular spot for swimming and active water sports in the afternoon.
Hồng Vàn Beach: The opposite of Vàn Chảy. Here, the sea is always calm, quiet, and transparent, without strong waves. Romantic wooden bungalows are set along the shore, and the beach is ideal for watching the sunset and enjoying a peaceful family vacation.

Best Time to Visit

Beach Season (April – June): The ideal time for a trip. The weather is sunny, the sea is warm and calm, and the sky is almost always clear.
Rainy and Stormy Season (July – September): A period of frequent tropical downpours and typhoons. During this time, ferries to the island are often canceled for safety reasons, so there is a risk of getting stranded on the island or the mainland.
Autumn (October – November): The weather becomes cooler, and the number of tourists drops significantly. Suitable for leisurely walks, but the water for swimming may be cool.

How to Get There

The route to Cô Tô Island consists of two stages:

From Hanoi to the Port: First, take a bus or limousine (about 3–4 hours) to the Cái Rồng port in Vân Đồn district.
From the Port to the Island: At the port, you need to transfer to a high-speed boat (from Cái Rồng to Cô Tô). The sea journey takes about 1–1.5 hours depending on the weather.
